Local chronic disease management program begins Jan. 14

Like many other agencies, the North Alabama Regional Council of Governments has had to adapt its existing wellness programs to meet the needs of older individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning Jan. 14, NARCOG will offer a new format of the evidence-based Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.
This eight-week course can be completed from the comfort of home, and materials are mailed to each participant before the class start date.
Topics for this free course include healthy eating, exercise, communication and medication management. Register and receive the following by mail:
—“Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” book
—Relaxation for Mind and Body CD
—Exercise CD and accompanying book
—Access to eight weekly calls with a trained leader
Participants must register before Jan. 7.
A second class will begin Feb. 17, and registration for that must be completed before Feb. 10.
