Police arrest one for counterfeit checks

A Birmingham man is under arrest for trying to cash counterfeit checks at local banks.
On Jan. 14 Hartselle Police Department investigator Tania Burgess arrested Daniel Demarr Dancy, 40, of Birmingham for criminal possession of a forged instrument, third degree. According to the officers were dispatched to Bank Independent in reference to a male subject attempting to cash a counterfeit check totaling $2,391. Officers arrived and determined the suspect had fled the area. Minutes later, Officers were dispatched to Peoples Bank in reference to the same suspect attempting to cash yet another counterfeit check. Officers arrived, located Dancy, where he was arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail.
Bond was set at $1,000, according to the HPD.
