Police arrest rape suspect

Seven months after the initial report, a Falkville man charged with rape is in custody in Morgan County.  

July 7, 2020, a report was filed for an alleged rape of a juvenile within the city limits of Decatur. The investigation determined Michael Lee Tyson, 20, of Falkville, was the suspect.  

Tyson was 19 at the time of the incident.  

Sept. 4, 2020, Decatur police obtained two warrants: for rape, second degree, and production of obscene material.   

Jan. 19 Tyson was arrested in Michigan. He was extradited to Decatur Feb. 2 and was placed in the Morgan County Correctional Facility with bond set at $15,000.
