HACC annual meeting, awards gala slated for May 7
The 44th annual meeting of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce will be held May 7 in Monarch Hall at the Cook Museum of Natural Science in Decatur.
“Please plan to join us as we recognize the accomplishments and efforts of our volunteers, share our vision for the future, reflect on programs and milestones during the past year, recognize outgoing and incoming board members and introduce the new board chairmen,” the Chamber said in an invitation to its members and the public.
Hartselle’s Jody Singer will be the keynote speaker of the event. Singer is the director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Appointed in September 2018, Singer manages one of NASA’s largest field installations, with nearly 6,000 on-and near-site civil service and contractor employees and an annual budget of approximately $3.6 billion. Prior to being named to the position, Singer had served as Marshall acting director since July 2018 and was deputy director from February 2016 to July 2018, assisting the director with the daily management of the center’s workforce and operations.
The event will also serve as a time to present the Chamber’s annual civic and citizenship awards: the Dr. Thomas M. Guyton Humanitarian Award; the John J. Sparkman Citizenship Award; the E.R. Roberts Business Award; and the Tommy Ed Roberts Civic Award. Full descriptions of each award, as well as nomination and registration forms, can be found online by visiting www.hartsellechamber.com. Nominations will be accepted until April 7. Tickets for HACC members cost $45, non-members will pay $55 per ticket.
Arrival and a social will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 7 p.m.
