Local group builds more than 200 beds

More children throughout the Hartselle area will be able to sleep in their own beds, as the Ascend Cares Foundation and Turner Industries joined with local nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build more than 200 beds May 15.
“Helping children is a passion Ascend Cares volunteers have in their communities,” said Rachell Gold, executive director of the Ascend Cares Foundation. “No child should sleep on the floor. A child getting a good night’s sleep affects their health and happiness. These children needed our help, and so volunteers built 200 beds in one day.”
Ascend Cares and Turner funded the $35,000 project that helps Sleep in Heavenly Peace with their goal to ensure “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”
