A salute to dads everywhere
With this past Sunday being Father’s Day, I thought I would take a moment to wish all of our readers who are fathers a happy day and thank them for all they do for their families and, in turn, for our community.
The father is often an overlooked figure in our society – but he was designed by God to be the cornerstone of the home.
Fathers play such an important role in the family as providers of both physical and emotional security. There is so much more they provide for their families too; thousands of books have been written about the impact of the father and the importance of his influence.
I’m afraid I would run out of column inches if I continued much further.
One of my many blessings is my own father, who gave me his eyes, his thick hair and his love for the Lord and my mama. I’m a preacher’s daughter and have spent my entire life always running into people who already know me because they know him or have heard sermon illustrations that mention his children.
Having a close relationship with my father is so important to me and has shaped my life – I’m sure in more ways than I know. He has been my constant counselor in times of distress and my cheerleader, my go-to person for advice and favorite preacher.
If you’re blessed to have a father like mine, you know what I’m talking about.
I hope all the fathers out there were treated like kings on your special day. For all that you do, we appreciate you.
