Hartselle Enquirer selects All-Area baseball team
Accolades continue to pour in for the Hartselle Tigers following their runner-up finish in the 6A State Championship game.
Elliott Bray helped lead the Tigers to Montgomery by his play on the mound and in the field. He finished the season 9-3 with a 1.26 ERA. He pitched 78 innings with 124 strikeouts and just 31 walks. He held opposing batters to a .204 average and allowed only 14 earned runs.
The Hartselle Enquirer has named Bray as its Player of the Year following his outstanding season.
Player of the Year: Elliott Bray, Hartselle, Jr.: The Auburn commitment was named Class 6A first-team All-State. He finished 9-3 with a 1.26 ERA with 124 strikeouts in 78 innings. He held opposing batters to a .204 batting average.
2021 Hartselle Enquirer All-Area team
Pitcher: Colton Hooper, Falkville, Jr.: The Class 2A second-team All-State selection was 7-0 with a 2.02 ERA striking out 81 with 18 walks
Pitcher: Colby Widner, Hartselle, Sr.: The reliever was 6-0 with two saves and a 2.73 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 41 innings of work.
Catcher: Peyton Sallee, Falkville, Sr.: The Class 2A second-team All-State selection hit .435 with 34 hits, including six home runs and 45 RBIs.
Infielder: Mason Mann, Priceville, Sr.: The Class 4A first-team All-State selection hit .495 with 55 hits, 37 RBIs, and 35 runs scored. He reached base safely in every game this season with 19 multi-hit games.
Infielder: Wyatt Tomlin, Falkville, Sr.: The Class 2A first-team All-State selection hit .454 with 49 hits, 40 RBIs, and 38 runs scored.
Infielder: Brodie Morrow, Hartselle, Jr.: The first baseman hit .310 with 37 RBIs.
Infielder: Peyton Steele, Hartselle, Fr.: The freshman third baseman hit .362 to lead the Tigers. He had 12 doubles, two triples, and three home runs.
Outfielder: Caden Burnett, Falkville, Soph.: The Class 2A first-team All-State selection hit .458 with 54 hits, 38 runs scored, and 31 RBIs.
Outfielder: Wyatt Hurt, Priceville, Sr.: Set a school record with nine triples. He hit .336, added seven doubles while scoring 40 runs, and had 29 RBIs.
Outfielder: Dylan Parker, Danville, Sr.: The Class 3A second-team All-State selection led the Hawks by hitting .492 with 32 hits, 25 runs scored, and 22 RBIs.
Outfielder: Drew Cartee, Hartselle, Sr.: The Samford signee led the Tigers with 52 putouts and just one error in the outfield. He hit .268 with a team-leading 13 stolen bases.
Designated Hitter: Coleman Mizell, Hartselle, Soph.: The Alabama commit hit .272 with 32 runs scored, 23 RBIs, and 11 extra-base hits.
