Hartselle 6U brings home the USSSA State Championship
The Hartselle 6U softball All-Stars swept the competition en route to the 2021 USSSA State Championship in Athens last Saturday.
The Lady Tigers open the state championships with a 25-11 win over Athens last Friday night, and they followed that up with a 24-13 win over Curry in the semifinals. They clinched the State Championship with a 23-2 win over Athens.
The team went undefeated through June with wins in the first two pre-area tournaments and a win in the Area tournament last week in Hartselle. Their record currently stands at 15-0.
They won 13 games by double digits and averaged 22.5 runs per game. Their closest game was a 25-24 come from behind win over Madison Co. #1 in the second pre-area tournament at Florence.
The head coach of the team was Mikee Reed. He was assisted by Brian James, Chris Lemay, Chad Miller, and Leonard Morris.
The all-star team was Tatum Reed, Claire Taylor, Abby Hargett, Anslee Lemay, Cooper James, Ava Pressley, Lucy Lecompte, Harley Miller, Aubrey Brantley, Joy Morris, Kylee Grantland, and Norah Blake Parker. Selah Morris served as the team’s batgirl.
The Lady Tigers play in the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores July 7-10.
