Summerford Nursing Home celebrates CNA Week
The staff at Summerford Nursing Home and Rehab in Falkville celebrated CNA Week June 21-25. The staff celebrated daily, with costumes, games and food.
The first class for CNAs was in July 1989. Trainer was Kaye Mesa, and the program director was Kay Sparkman.
June 21 everyone enjoyed Hippy The Dye Day. June 22 was 80s Fashion Day, and June 23 was Wacky Tacky Day. June 24 was Camo Day “Desert Storm,” and June 25 was Nerdy For 8 Hours.
The finale of the celebration was a cookout, with hamburgers, hotdogs and ice cream. Everyone also enjoyed a July picnic Friday.

Church and Community News
The Tim Ricketts Singers are happy to once again be able to do inside singings at area nursing homes and churches.
A singing will be held at NHC in Moulton with the Good News Singers the third Monday in July. July 25 the singers will be at the SonRise Fellowship Church at 10 a.m., and July 26 they will be at Westminister in Decatur. July 31 they will be at Vina July Fest at 1 p.m.
Father’s Day at McKendree United Methodist Church, Tina Summerford baked pecan pies for all the men attending. Their pastor is Brother Darrell Mosley.
Corinth West and Mt. Vernon Congregational Methodist churches conducted Vacation Bible School at Corinth West. The leaders were Shelby Maddox for music, Melanie Maddox for Bible activities, Katie Smith for games, Tomika Woods for crafts, Lawanna Latham for snacks and Roxanne Asherbranner and Flint Smith for puppets. The theme was Rocky Railway, and T-shirts featured a locomotive and the slogan, “Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Thru.”
The director was Linda Walker, and the music leader was Roxanne Asherbranner.

—Bronze: $250. logo on 5K T-shirt, Facebook ad, photo backdrop and small banner on the main stage
