Morgan County Schools kick off 2021-22 school year

The 2021-2-22 school year for Morgan County Schools began this past week with students and teachers returning to in-person instruction as normal, five days a week.

MCS Superintendent Robbie Elliott wrote a letter to parents with guidelines and important information for the upcoming year as it begins.

“Masking and COVID vaccinations, if eligible, are recommended but not mandated or required for our students or staff,” he wrote, saying student temperatures will be checked at the beginning of each school day.

All Morgan County Schools will be disinfected each Wednesday with spray/fog disinfectant. In other measures, visitors will be limited in the buildings, and isolation stations in the nurse areas have been set up to help mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-1-29, Elliott added.

“These items are non-intrusive and will not affect teaching, learning or operating our schools at any time,” he wrote.

If the state issues any new mandates or requirements during the school year, Elliot said Morgan County Schools will follow them.

“If we see a rise in our cases in (the school district), additional precautions will be put into place to help keep our students safe and our schools open,” Elliott said.

A Virtual Teacher Institute was held Aug. 4 throughout the district to welcome teachers back for the 2021-2-22 school year.
