COVID-19 cases close Sparkman Civic Center
Special to the Enquirer
A Hartselle municipal building has been closed to the public after two employees tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the City of Hartselle Facebook page, the Hartselle Parks and Recreation Department has closed the Sparkman Civic Center for the next two weeks.
“Due to two employees testing positive for COVID-19 and several staff members being exposed this action has become necessary,” the announcement reports. “There will be a limited number of Parks and Rec employees who will be working to keep the fields and grounds mowed and kept during the next two weeks, along with the Cemetery and other City properties.”
The Senior Center will remain open – just without access to the civic center.
Municipal Court will also be held as usual Aug. 26, at normal times, according to the announcement. “The Civic Center will be cleaned and sanitized before Court is held.”
Anyone with events scheduled at the center should be receiving a phone call about the closure. For more information, call the center at 256 773 2581.
The center is scheduled to reopen Sept. 7, barring any setbacks.
