School board approves transfers, new employees

The Hartselle City Schools Board of Education acted on a number of items at its regular meeting Aug. 24, including the following: 

ACTION ITEMS 

  • Approved the contract with Robin Irwin Physical Therapy Service in Decatur to provide occupational therapy services for students during the 2021-2022 school year. 
  • Approved the standards-based report card for first-graders beginning 2021-2022. 
  • Approved to dispose of outdated encyclopedias from the Hartselle High School library, broken steamer and kettle set at F.E. Burleson Elementary, broken milk box at Hartselle Intermediate School and broken ice cream box at Hartselle High School. 
  • Approved the bus request from Daystar Church for bus services on Sept. 1 to travel from Hartselle to Cullman. Daystar will pay the costs. 
  • Approved an out-of-state field trip request for the Hartselle High School Band to travel to Orlando Nov. 20-23 to visit Disney Springs, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. 

PERSONNEL ITEMS 

  • Approved leave requests from Jessie Bartlett, Sonya Lett, Terri McClure, Sloan Sittason and Stacy Steenson. 
  • Approved resignations of Dr. Carolyn Pistorius, assistant principal at F.E. Burleson Elementary; Sarah Shifrin, choral teacher at Hartselle Junior High and Hartselle Intermediate; Willie Ambrocio, custodian assigned to Hartselle Intermediate; Sherry Terry, instructional aide assigned to Hartselle Intermediate; and Kristy Wiley, CNP manager at F.E. Burleson. 
  • Approved transfers of Amy Stadthagen from bookkeeper at F.E. Burleson to bookkeeper at Barkley Bridge and Natalie Whitten from bookkeeper at Hartselle Intermediate to bookkeeper at F.E. Burleson. 
  • Approved the following new employees: Jake Hembree, assistant principal at Hartselle Intermediate; Andrea Owensby, elementary virtual/homebound teacher; Beth Taylor, cafeteria manager; Gunnar Wiggins and DeKota Shaddrix, custodians; Toni Smith, six-hour cafeteria worker; and Casey Gill, instructional aide. 
  • Approved TEAMS contracts for Haley Oyervidez, Amy Godwin, Victoria Counce, Donna Legg-Battles, Janice Miller and Jennifer Talbot at the high school and Bethany Simpson, Lauren Wynn, Caroline Weems, Rachel Sims and Leah Roden at the junior high. 
  • Approved Tanya Lybarger Childers as a part-time physical education teacher at Hartselle High. 
  • Added the following substitutes to the approved list: Deborah Bramlett, Ashley Bryant, Ginger Cataline, Kimberly Dickerson, Mackenzie Holtsclaw, Angela Payne, Amy Raney, Rita Roberts, Kayla Sparkman, LeAnn Thrasher and Montanna Winchester. 

The board also approved the yearly Superintendent Evaluation.
