Lady Tigers finish runner-up in Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament
Hartselle volleyball finished runner-up in the annual Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament Saturday evening.
The 6A No. 8 Lady Tigers fell to 7A No. 6 Bob Jones in the finals 2-0 with scores of 25-15 and 25-22.
Hartselle (18-11) opened the tournament with a 2-0 (25-20, 25-22) loss to county foe Priceville. However, the Lady Tigers bounced back with a 2-0 (25-12, 25-10) win over Ramsay and a 2-0 (28-26, 25-17) win over 7A No. 10 Grissom.
In bracket play, the Lady Tigers defeated 2A No. 2 Addison 2-1 (16-25, 25-18, 15-10) and 5A No. 4 Alexandria 2-0 (25-23, 25-19) before advancing to the championship match.
Amber Holshouser finished the tournament with 106 assists, 38 digs, six kills, and five aces to lead the Lady Tigers.
Jadyn Chesser had 45 digs and 30 kills, while Alia Wright had 30 kills.
KJ Jones had 50 digs; Ashley Holshouser added 39 digs, and Megan Lee had 43 digs.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers picked up wins over Brewer and Cullman.
Hartselle defeated the Lady Patriots 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-15). Amber Holshouser had 27 assists and nine digs. Chesser finished with 14 digs and nine kills, while Wright had 11 kills. Jones added 16 digs.
The Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 in area play with a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23) win at Cullman.
Hartselle battled from behind in the third and fourth sets to get the win. The girls trailed 18-10 in the fourth before mounting a comeback.
Chesser had 25 digs and 15 kills to lead Hartselle. Amber Holshouser had 33 assists and 12 digs, while her sister Ashley had 19 digs.
