Books of the week of Nov. 3
Turkey is so excited about Thanksgiving. He doesn’t even care that the children are in silly costumes and people are buzzing around in excitement for the play that’s about to go on.
All of a sudden, he realizes he has to go on stage too. He does not like that one bit.
Turkey breaks out of his cage and storms the school. From the science classroom to the cafeteria and through the library, Turkey is on the run. The principal, however, is fast on his feet, and Turkey lands himself right back on stage.
Turns out, Turkey is a star. He steals the show, and the crowd adores him.
Children of all ages will enjoy this book. The rhyming, roaming Turkey chase all over the school will hold their attention the whole way through. It’s a silly, fun story, great for Thanksgiving.
“How to Catch a Turkey” is available as an audiobook at the library as well as in print form. You can also find it on the Libby app using your William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle library card.
Jenna Campbell has had a crush on her boss for six years, but she is tired of waiting. She quits her job and plans a trip to Alaska to meet a man she has been talking to online. Her mother thinks she is crazy – and Jenna thinks she might be right.
When she gets to Fairbanks, Dalton is nowhere to be found. The annoying man who sat next to her on the plane, Reid, notices she is stranded and offers to fly her where she is going.
Once they are on the plane, Reid finds out Jenna is going to meet Dalton and refuses to take her to the town they agreed upon because Dalton has a bad reputation in the area.
Reid flies her instead to the small town where he lives so Jenna can hear it straight from his sister, Lucy. Unfortunately, Lucy is out of town, and Jenna is forced to stay at Reid’s house, as the town, Snowbound, has only a few residents – all men – and no hotel.
Furious, Jenna threatens to call the police. However, there is only one working phone, and it’s at the pump station down the road – and there’s a snowstorm moving in.
After three days of being snowed in, the ice between Jenna and Reid has thawed, and they realize they actually enjoy each other’s company.
When the storm is over, they plan to fly back to Fairbanks. Before they can take off, a call comes in that a plane is landing. It’s Dalton – and Jenna’s mother. Then another call comes in: A Learjet is coming in, and it’s Jenna’s boss, Brad. What in the world is going on?
Jenna goes from being a spinster to having three men fighting over her!
