Veterans Day parade returns Saturday
By Staff Reports
The 11th annual Veterans Day Parade will be held in downtown Hartselle Saturday after being held at J.P. Cain Stadium in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
American Legion Post Commander Michael Ferguson will be the speaker for the patriotic program, which will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the Depot on Railroad Street.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and run along the same route the annual Christmas parade follows, according to event organizer Lee Greene.
“We want to welcome all Middle East veterans home,” Greene said. “We got it all wrong after Vietnam and want to get it right this time.
“Usually about 450 people attend. Last year was weird, but we had about 350 people at the stadium,” he added.
