Priceville, Brewer run in AHSAA state cross-country meet
The Priceville boys and girls cross-country teams and the Brewer girls competed in the AHSAA state cross-country meet at Oakville Saturday.
The Priceville boys, who qualified by winning their sectional, finished sixth overall. Adam Taylor led the way for the Bulldogs with a third-place finish in 4A. He finished with a time of 16:33.77, less than eight seconds behind the state champion, Joe Stevens of Ashville. Maclain Lawson finished 11th with a time of 17:12.20.
The Priceville girls finished ninth overall in their first appearance at the state championship. Junior Elizabeth Cain was the Lady Bulldogs top finisher, coming in 15th, with a time of 21:02.78.
The Brewer girls came in eighth in 5A behind the running of Rose and Autumn Betts. Rose, an eighth-grader, ran a time of 20:11.01 to finish in ninth place, while her sister Autumn, a sophomore, finished 12th with a time of 20:28.43.
