Books of the week of Feb.23
Catalina Martin, or Lina, has what people think is the picture-perfect life in New York City. She has an amazing job, great best friend and devoted boyfriend.
However, she doesn’t actually have a boyfriend. She just tells everyone she has one because they told her her ex has moved on.
Lina has no problem lying until people start demanding her boyfriend escort her to her sister’s wedding back home in Spain. Now she must find someone to convincingly pretend he is her boyfriend.
Who better than her work nemesis, Aaron Blackford? He fits the description of the tall, dark and handsome American she gave her family. What could possibly go wrong?
This book is a great contemporary enemies-to-lovers. The romance is a slow burn with a happy ending. This book is one of the top books on #BookTok. The sequel to this book, “The American Roommate Experiment” comes out August 2022.
This title is available at the library and on the Libby app.
The second book in the Bridgerton series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me” follows the eldest Bridgerton brother, Anthony. He desperately does not want to marry but knows he is expected to. He fears he will fall to the same fate as his father.
When he meets Miss Kate Sheffield, Anthony is thrown off course. Kate is a determined and spirited young woman.
These two characters are both stubborn and refreshingly honest. In an attempt to avoid each other, they seem to be constantly together. Their bantering is comical and draws you deeper into the life of regency London.
If you love watching this Netflix show, you will enjoy the books even more. Season two follows this book and airs March 25.
You can find all eight of the Bridgerton books at the library and on the Hoopla app or the Libby app.
