Good time for basketball
By Clif Knight
With the ground soaked in rain and a week of dark clouds dominating the sky, I can think of nothing better to do than curl up on the couch and watch an SEC basketball game. It will be even more fun next week when the SEC Tournament kicks off, with at least a half dozen teams in the running for a championship trophy.
The level of excitement is expected to reach its peak in mid-March, when the nation’s top-seeded teams will be featured in the NCAA Tournament. Two SEC teams, Auburn and Kentucky, are picked as teams likely to reach the final four bracket.
My wife Geanell says spending so much time inside watching basketball is making me lazy. My answer is, it’s my way of storing up the energy I’ll need to do all the outside work that will need to be done when it dries up and gets warmer outside.
Geanell and I have closely followed the University of Alabama basketball team during the regular season. The Crimson Tide is rated as having played the nation’s hardest schedule, having wins against No. 1-ranked Gonzaga and top ten-ranked Baylor. Roll Tide!
