Charles “Randy” Busby

A graveside funeral service and interment for Charles “Randy” Busby, 68, was held April 16 at 1 p.m. at Cullman City Cemetery with Pastor Greg Cain officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation has been scheduled.
Sgt. Busby passed away April 13 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 19, 1953, in Morgan County to Milland Filmore Busby and Dramer Irene Mooney Busby, who preceded him in death.
He was employed as a Morgan County School Resource Officer after his retirement from the Decatur Police Department and had worked with law enforcement for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was a member of the Promise Land Church in Hartselle. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne, the 173rd Airborne and 17th CAV.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Earlene Ferrell Busby; sons, Joshua Ferrell Busby (Melissa) and Randall Lee Busby; daughter, Jana Nicole Busby Cain (Chris); sister, Carolyn Busby Barnett (Hezzell); and two grandchildren, Wilder and Sawyer.
Laston “Calvin” Gatlin
Hartselle
A graveside funeral service and interment for Laston “Calvin” Gatlin, 85, was held April 15 at 11 a.m. at New Salem Cemetery in Limestone County, with Bro. Greg Lee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation was scheduled.
Mr. Gatlin died April 11 at NHC Healthcare. He was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Limestone County, to Mason Gatlin and Lella L. Smith Gatlin.
Calvin was a member of the Limestone County Farming Community and relocated to Arizona in 1980. After retirement, he returned home to Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Willie Gatlin, Buron Gatlin and Buford Gatlin; six sisters, Dorothy Tucker, Ruby Hall, Evie Sobeck, Dora Smith, Etora Shindlebarrow and Mary Morgan; and two children, Mona Lisa Kirby and Leila Christina Gatlin.
Survivors include a son, James Mason Gatlin, Eloy, Ariz.; daughter, Theresa Gatlin Waddell, Hartselle; sister, Annie Lea “Lizzie” Simmons; grandchildren, Amanda M. Gatlin, John Morgan Gatlin and Marissa Leann Waddell; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donnie Terry, Chuck Moore, Tim Terry and Rodney Terry.
Fred White
Danville
Funeral service for Fred White, 73, was held April 16 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron-Hardynie Bullard officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. White passed away April 12 at Redstone Village Inpatient Hospice Care. He was born March 9, 1949, in Morgan County to Fred White Sr. and Willie Lee Reed White.
Fred was a truck driver for more than 45 years. He loved to grill out and get together on holidays. He loved all his babies, especially Miss Ellie and Pete. He loved being outside and was always doing something to stay busy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Mashburn.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Barber White; son, Allen Jernigan (Lissa); daughter, Paula Jernigan Steele (James); brother, Bobby White; brother-in-law, Harold Mashburn; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Reed, Wesley Jernigan, Jonathan Jernigan, James Steele, Steve Steele and Ashley Alexander.
Ron-Hardyald Chaney
Falkville
Ron-Hardyald Chaney passed away April 16 at Baptist Medical Center–Princeton.
He was born Aug. 2, 1954, in Morgan County to Dave Talmadge Chaney and Eunice Evelyn Givins Chaney. He was a dairy farm worker for the Charlie Prince Dairy Farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Lee Chaney; and a sister, May Lue Knowles.
Survivors include sons, Dave Chaney and Jed Chaney; brothers, Donald Chaney, David Chaney, Ray Chaney, Vickie Chaney, Eddie Chaney, Freddie Chaney and Stacy Chaney; and sisters, Betty Taylor and Peggy Sue Hill.
No services were scheduled at this time.
Sybile Arnold Tomlinson
Danville
Funeral service for Sybile Arnold Tomlinson, 84, was held April 16 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Salter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Tomlinson died April 13 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Birmingham. She was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Marion County to Homer Arnold and Hazel Morrow Arnold.
She was employed with the Morgan County Board of Education as an educator for Neel School prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Tomlinson; daughter, Seville Stein; son, Wade Tomlinson; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rob Stein, Brent Vest, Robby Vest, Allen Loper, Wade Tomlinson and Tim Bisch. The Honorary pallbearer was Tom Boyle.
Hoyt Dwight Owens
Hartselle
A graveside funeral service and interment for Hoyt Dwight Owens, 69, was held April 18 at 3 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. No public visitation was scheduled.
Mr. Owens died April 12 at his residence. He was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Morgan County to Robert Tennis Owens and Louise Downs Owens Hogan. He was always a hard worker and was employed by Reed Construction as a contractor and construction worker prior to his retirement. He also was formerly a truck driver during his work career.
Mr. Owens was a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly. He served in the United States Army as a mechanic, working in the motor pool.
Survivors include wife, Sherri Pearson Owens sons, Mike Owens, Tennis Owens, and Jeremy Owens; mother, Louise Downs Owens Hogan; brother, David Owens; sisters, Peggy Warren and Anne Brown; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kolin Owens, Kole Owens, Hunter Owens, Coy Brown, Robert Warren and John Anderson. The honorary pallbearer was Sam Warren.
Millie Patterson
Athens
A memorial visitation will be held April 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home for Ms. Millie Patterson of Athens.
Ms. Patterson died April 15 at her residence. She was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Limestone County to Owen L. and Louise Chunn.
She was a food service worker prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Cheatham; brother, Drew Chunn; grandchildren, Keri Cheatham, Adam Patterson, David Patterson, Luke Patterson, Jake Patterson and Timothy Cheatham; and five great-grandchildren.
Ron-Hardy Hardy
Cullman
A memorial service for Ron-Hardy Hardy, 73, of Cullman, will be held at Smith Lake April 23 at 1 p.m.
Mr. Hardy died April 16 at his residence. He was born Dec. 13, 1948, to John and Dorothy Hardy in Terry County, Texas.
Ron-Hardy was a loving father and grandfather. He proudly served in the Army as an MP and did two tours in Vietnam.
After the Army, Mr. Hardy worked as a carpenter. He loved building houses and making things out of wood. He was very down to earth and always treated people the way he wanted to be treated.
Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Hardy and Terry Hardy.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Hardy-Morris (James) and Christi Robles (Ruben); two brothers, John Hardy (Sue) and Kenneth Hardy (Barbara); and three grandchildren, Brynlee Morris, Ruben Robles Jr., and Valeria Robles.
Luther Elliott McAnally
Lacey’s Spring
Luther Elliott McAnally went to be with the Lord April 17 at his residence.
Mr. McAnally was born May 20, 1936, to Luther Cleveland McAnally and Mary Ruth Chunn. He was an elder at First Christian Church at Valhermoso Springs. He was a 1956 graduate of Cotaco High School. He worked the majority of his career as a maintenance mechanic at Onan Cooperation. He enjoyed coaching community league basketball and baseball in his younger years.
He was a loving husband to Marian Ann McAnally for 51 years until her death and eight years to Patsy Ann Saylor McAnally.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, David Edward McAnally and Harold Thomas McAnally; sisters, Annie Ruth McAnally Bonds and Cathryn Hilda McAnally Jones; wife, Marian Ann Chaivers McAnally; and son, Elliott Keith McAnally.
He is survived by his wife, Pasty Ann Saylor McAnally of Lacey’s Spring; sons, Marion Mark McAnally (Eegee) of Lacey’s Spring, Bret Saylor (Marian) of Auburn and Kelly Saylor (Lisa) of Grant; daughter-in-law, Tammy Cothren McAnally; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His body will lie in state at First Christian Church, Valhermoso Springs, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with the funeral to follow at noon, April 23. Burial will be at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bret Saylor, Kelly Saylor, Carl Carlson, Jeff Holmes, Scott Bedingfield and Joseph McAnally.
Eleanor Roberts McCord
Hartselle
March 9 Eleanor McCord, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on her birthday while peacefully asleep at the age of 83.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held April 23 at the First Baptist Church of Hartselle in the fellowship hall from 2-4 p.m.
Eleanor was born March 9, 1939, in Hartselle to Horace and Elizabeth Roberts. She graduated from Morgan County High School and briefly went to Auburn University before coming home to Hartselle to marry Arthur McCord June 13, 1964. Together they had one child, Trent McCord.
Although Eleanor did many different things in her long life, most people knew her from Roberts Catfish Lodge. If you knew her, you knew what an outgoing, sassy and funny person she was.
She devoted much of her life to taking care of her husband when he fell ill. She was always there for anyone who needed a listening ear. She was a caretaker to all.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Elizabeth Roberts, and her husband, Arthur McCord.
She is survived by her son, Trent (Briana); three grandchildren, Mallarie, Kara and Maggie; brothers, Howard “Buddy” Roberts and David Roberts; and several cousins, a niece and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Reba W. Henry
Lacey’s Spring
A memorial service for Reba W. Henry, 75, was held April 19 at 2 p.m. at Risen Church with Pastor Tim Taylor and Bro. Chris Pike officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation was scheduled.
Mrs. Henry died April 16 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Morgan County to Floyd Wiggington Sr. And Mamie Maze Wigginton.
She was a wonderful wife for her husband, mother and grandmother, who loved her grandkids more than life itself. She loved her family and was always super proud of their accomplishments. Her titles could have been Helper, Encourager and Caregiver. She loved God and others with all of her heart, and she loved to laugh and make others laugh.
“Be still and know that I am God” was her favorite verse.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sisters, Lurleen Marko, Anne Walker and Frances Wigginton.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Milton; daughter, Johnna Watts; son, Daren Henry; brother, Floyd Wiggington Jr.; sisters, Marsha Carolyn “Fox” Pike and Sarah Sharp; grandchildren, Zac Watts and Kari Watts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
