The Market Goat 4-H program is open to all Morgan County youth
The Market Goat 4-H program is open to all Morgan County youth, ages 9-18. Participants must register with 4-H and purchase at least one market wether goat (castrated male) at $400/animal, payable to “Alabama 4-H Foundation” by May 25 (Financing may be available through the Farm Service Agency Youth Loan program.) The wether goats will be sourced and dispersed to 4-H youth in mid-June by the Morgan County Extension Office. Participants will be required to attend a mandatory meeting, prior to pick-up of goats where they will be given guidance on facility setup, etc. The Morgan County Extension Office will host an exhibition show in mid-October as well as provide assistance with selling the goats at the end of the project. The goats will be eligible to compete in other shows throughout the state at the exhibitors discretion. For registration information, contact the Morgan County 4-H Office at 256-773-2549, or email at morgancountyextension@aces.edu.
