IMPACT Student Leadership group visits Montgomery
Special to the Enquirer
In April, students from the Chamber’s IMPACT Student Leadership Program traveled to Montgomery for a day focused on state legislature and government. The trip began at the Alabama State House with a tour given by Representatives Parker Moore and Scott Stadthagen. Students were able to visit the Senate floor and participate in a mock creation, debate and amendment of a bill. Afterwards the group visited the Alabama State Capitol Building, where they met with Secretary of State John Merrill, who gifted each student pencils, posters, and an annual report. Following lunch in downtown Montgomery, the group visited the Civil Rights Memorial Center, and ended the day with a visit to Peach Park in Clanton. The first year of IMPACT concluded May 19 with a graduation and awards dinner held at First Baptist Church of Hartselle.
