Minds in bloom – Grant helps Crestline Elementary with second phase of outdoor classroom
Special to the Enquirer
Community volunteers recently gathered together to work on the next phase of the outdoor classroom at Crestline Elementary School.
Workers were able to frame in a new sign, construct raised garden beds and complete other miscellaneous jobs, according to environmental science teacher Barb Helton.
The classroom work was made possible in part thanks to a grant from Alabama’s Mountains, Rivers and Valleys RC&D Council. Helton applied for the $3,000 grant to help improve the classroom.
“It would not have been possible without the help of so many volunteers,” she said. “We are so thankful for the grant and community support.”
