Glenn Dobbs

Funeral service for Glenn Dobbs, 98, was held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Thompson and Bro. Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 2-3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Dobbs died Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born June 7, 1924, in Morgan County, to John Calvin Dobbs and Ona Elizabeth Roan Dobbs.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, also worked for NASA until retiring and then worked for UAH as an engineering technician. He was a wonderful family man, that was always willing to do anything for others. He enjoyed gardening, swimming, going to the beach and dancing. He was a diehard Alabama fan.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Lurline Howard Dobbs and Alice Norwood Dobbs and a daughter, Joy Cumbaa.
Survivors include son, Tom Norwood; daughters, Shelia Parker, Sherry Courtney,
Tresa McGhee, Lisa Wilcutt and Ann Smith; sister, Betty Rogers, eight grandchildren;
six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hayes Tiffin, Terrance Williams, Barron Dorroh, David Webster, Steven Rogers and De Cumbaa.
Charles Daley
Somerville
A graveside funeral service and interment for Charles Daley, 68, was held
Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Blue Springs Cemetery with Bro.
Festus Grissom and Bro. James Glover officiating and Peck Funeral Home
directing. Visitation was Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 11 a.m. to
noon at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Daley died Friday, August 5, 2022 at his residence. He was born
November 28, 1953 in Morgan County, to Charles William Daley and Betty Jean
Hornal Daley. He was employed by Savannah River as a Nuclear Engineer,
prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife and his
parents.
Survivors include stepsons, J.J. Daugette (Cindy) and Jacob Maze; step-daughter,
Jennifer Daugette; sisters, Jean Thompson and Kathy Childers; grandchildren,
Julie Grissom (Shawn), Louis Daugette, Jayla Daugette, Jeannie Moore,
Jacob Moore, Jaden Staggs, Averlie Maze and Madison Ricks; great grandchildren,
Raelynn Daugette, Elijah Grissom, Isaiah Moore, Josiah Moore and Naomi Moore;
nieces and nephews, Bryan Maxwell, Leslie Maxwell, Emily Childers and Meredith Childers.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Ruth Weaver Hawkins

Funeral service for Ruth Weaver Hawkins, 91, was held Saturday, August 13,
2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home
directing. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Visitation was
Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 11a.m.-1p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hawkins died Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She was born December 8, 1930 in Lawrence County, to Robert Louie Alred
and Ollie Lucille (Waugh) Alred.
She was employed at Goodyear Mills as a machine operator, prior to her
retirement. She was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in
Trinity. She was always a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She loved her family and enjoyed fishing.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, John Weaver, her second
husband, James Hawkins, her parents and a brother, Windal Alred.
Survivors include sons, Rickey Weaver (Judy) and Mark Weaver (Dana); brother,
Charles Alred (Joan); sisters, Bobbie Brewington and Margie Cowan; five grandchildren;
six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends.
Lola-Sutterfield June Williamson Sutterfield
Hartselle
Lola-Sutterfield June Williamson Sutterfield passed from this life at the age of
87 after suffering with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia. She was formerly from
Stratford, Texas and passed away on August 7. 2022 at Summerford Nursing
Home in Falkville, Ala.
June, the youngest of three children, was born on June 24, 1935 at home in
Lexington, Oklahoma, to her parents, Nolan Orville Williamson, and Ina Geno Williamson.
She grew up and went to school in the Ladd community.
June is preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Ina Williamson; her son,
Larry Wayne Sutterfield; her husband, Charles Junior “Chuck” Sutterfield; a great
grandson, Korbyn Dawson Kaberna; her sister, Allie Viola Rollins; and
brother, Andrew Orville “Andy” Williamson; six sisters-in-law and seven
brothers-in-law.
June is survived by her three daughters, Charlotte Malone (Mike), Hartselle,
Ala.; Rhonda Lewis (Keith), Clayton, New Mexico; and Brenda Acker, Stratford,
Texas. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Helen McVeigh of Las Vegas,
Nevada; nine grandchildren: Randy Sutterfield (Destiny); Sandra Jefferson
(Dale); Devin Malone (Janelle); Brian Malone (Hidemi); Nicklas Lewis
(Sarah); Keitha Tovar (Jared); Shannon Hensley; Clayton Acker (Nichole); and
Jordon Acker (Britt); 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren;
and too many to mention, loving nieces and nephews, extended family and
friends.
June met the love of her life, a young man, Charles “Chuck” Junior
Sutterfield, while on a double date with her best friend. In January 1952,
he asked Miss June to marry him, and on September 16, 1952, they were
married in Noble, Oklahoma.
In the early 50s, June and Chuck became Christians and started attending
the Church of Christ after they married. June and Chuck were members of the
Stratford Church of Christ somewhere between fifty and sixty years. They
loved going to church and taking their children. June taught a Sunday school
class and always loved helping with Vacation Bible School. She loved cooking
and preparing dishes to help with funeral lunches for the families. She and
Chuck enjoyed the fellowship of Sunday lunches together with the Stratford
congregation. One of her favorite times at the Stratford Church of Christ was
attending the Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed her friends, Olene Caraway and
Chloe Morgan and felt they brought so much to the Ladies Class. June always
aspired to be a better Christian.
After moving to Hartselle, Charlotte would bring June to the Hartselle
Church of Christ whenever June was able. You could tell she really enjoyed being at church
and worshiping God. There was always a smile on her face that said, “I’m so
glad to be here today.” Services were held in Texas at Stratford Cemetery with the assistance of
Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors at 2 p.m., August 13, 2022, at
Stratford Church of Christ. No visitation was scheduled.
Jody Wood
Falkville
Funeral service for Jody Wood, 35, was held Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 3 p.m.
at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rusty Hodges officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 1p.m. to 3p.m. at Peck
Funeral Home. Mr. Wood died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He
was born August 25, 1986, in Morgan County, to Jerry Lynn Wood and Vicky
Vinson Wood.
He was employed by Industrial Boiler, as a welder, prior to his passing. He
was the type of person that didn’t leave without a hug and an “I Love You.”
Jody had the best smile, an infectious laugh, had the biggest heart and
family was always no. 1 for him, especially Shaddyx, his son, who had him
wrapped around his finger. He was an avid Alabama football fan and never met
a stranger. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vicky Darlene Vinson Wood.
Survivors include father, Lynn Wood (Amanda); son, Shaddyx and his mother,
Jordan Wood; son, Shaddyx Ray Wood; brothers, Tim Wood (Sarah) and
Randy Wood (Brittany); nieces and nephews, Dalton Wood, London Wood, Auston Wood, Arizona Wood, Brayden Brown, Braxton Wood and Brooke Wood.
Pallbearers were Trevor Johnson, Jarrod Turner, Tyler Byrd, Nick Ward,
Josh Ricks and Jamie Thompson.
Jean Marie Harding
Hartselle
Graveside and interment for Jean Marie Harding, 79, was held Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Sardis no. 2 Cemetery in Winston County, with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation was Sunday from 1-3p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harding died Friday, August 12, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born October 26, 1942 in Morgan County to Burnice Sams and Audrey Kirby Sams. Mrs. Harding was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Tillman Harding.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Harding and family and Perry Harding and family; two brothers, Ray Sams and family and J.R. Sams and family; nieces and nephews. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Velda Humphrey McClanahan
Hartselle
Funeral Service for Velda Humphrey McClanahan, 96 of Hartselle was held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Clark officiating with burial in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation was Sunday from 6-8p.m. at the funeral home. She passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2022 at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville. She was born October 20, 1925 in Morgan County, Ala. to Bibb and Bernice Ray Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Cooper McClanahan. Velda was a member of First Christian where she was a member of the church choir.
Survivors include son, James McClanahan (Mary); two granddaughters, Lindsay Kubica (Adam) and Audrey Forman (Schuyler); five great grandchildren, Seth, Noah, and Abigail Kubica, Amilia and Maizy Forman. Pallbearers were family and friends
Family, friends, and others whose lives Velda touched were invited to reminisce, grieve, support and visit. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
