God is the great identifier
By Todd Barrier
Recently at a church service, announcements were being made. The announcement went something like this, “Brother Charlie is sick at home and needs our prayers.” A response came from the crowd, “Which Charlie? We’ve got three!” Instantly the correction was made and the correct Brother Charlie was identified.
Wouldn’t it be awful if we couldn’t be identified? If people were confused about who we are or if they didn’t know us at all? Sometimes we might feel this way. We know who we are, we have a name to go by, yet we feel like no one can identify us or identify with us. That’s the great thing about a relationship with God. God has known us since the beginning, and God will never forget who we are. In Jeremiah 5, the Bible says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”
What God said to Jeremiah can be applied to us as well, He knows us better than anyone. The Bible also says God will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5), which lets us know He won’t forget about us either. What a comfort to know that no matter how out of place we might feel, the Creator of the universe knows us and loves us. Have you entered into a relationship with Him? If not, let’s study together and find out how.
