Falkville sets agenda for 25th fall festival
Falkville’s 25th Annual Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct. 8 beginning from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. kicking off with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the volunteer fire department.
Diners are welcome to start the festival by attending pancake breakfast with serving starting at 7 a.m. in the fire hall. There will be no admission charge. A donation to the fire department for a piled-high plate of pancakes with syrup and sausage will be the cost of the meal.
The Color Me Downtown 5k Run/Fast Walk will begin at 8 a.m. along with several other activities. Food and arts and crafts vendors will be open for business and community and church groups will be opening their exhibits. Bingo will be played in the town courtroom under the sponsorship of Falkville High’s softball team. Children will be invited to test their riding skills by climbing aboard a mechanical bull.
A tractor show will also get underway at 8 a.m. followed by an antique car show at 9 a.m.
A tent entertainment show is billed as a highlight activity. It will open at 8:15 a.m. with a performance by the Brewer High School FFA Band. The Dry Creek Bluegrass Band will play at 9 a.m., followed by the Living Faith Singers at 10:20 a.m. Duane Walker will have the stage from noon until 2 p.m.
“We’ll be ready to go,” said Mayor Ken Winkles. “We expect a big crowd and hope for a dry day with plenty of sunshine.”
