Nancy Kay Bryant Farrer

A graveside funeral service and interment for Nancy Kay Bryant Farrer, 87,
was Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with
Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Nancy Kay Bryant Farrer was born at home on July 7, 1935 in the Massey community, and died at age 87, on September 25, 2022. She was preceded in death by parents, Price M. and Rachel Anders Bryant, grandparents, Will and Bertha Anders and Bill and Oma Bryant. She is survived by her sister Karen Bryant Walker (Jim), niece Whitney Walker, nephew Michael Walker (all of Kansas) and many cousins she
considered to be like brothers and sisters. After Falkville High School, she graduated from Alabama College in Montevallo and worked for the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service.
Afterwards, she began a 29-year career as a high school teacher of history, social studies, and Spanish at Morgan County High School, Cotaco High School and Brewer High School. She was a Sunday School teacher at McKendree United Methodist Church, and served for many years on the board of the Falkville Library. She was a very generous person, loved to write letters and notes, was very witty and had an exceptional memory. She will be missed by many former students and lifelong friends. Pallbearers were Corey Anders, Zeke Anders, Greg Holmes, Mark Nix, Mitchell Bryant Owens and Chris Warnick Family requests memorial donations be made to Evergreen Cemetery, 723 Mount Nebo Rd., Falkville, AL 35622.
Luvell “PeeWee” Jannette Nix

Funeral service for Luvell “PeeWee” Jannette Nix, 80, was held Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Holt and Bro. Tom Sutphin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Nix went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1942, in Morgan County, to Jasper Newt Powell and Lula Mae Handley Powell. “PeeWee,” as she was affectionately known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always devoted to her family, the Lord and her church. She was always a supporter of her late husband’s Gospel Quartet, The King’s Messengers. She loved her family more than words could express. She was employed by the Hartselle City School System as a cafeteria manager for F.E. Burleson, prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Lee Nix, her parents, a brother, Emmit Powell and sisters, Hazel Chaney, Margie Wynn and Bertha Blackmon. Survivors include son, Perry Jason Nix (Nancy); daughter, Melissa Rene Roy; grandchildren, Lonnie Roy (Amber), Hollie Bridwell (Shane), Drew Nix (Katelyn), Dusty Roy (Leighanna) and Emily Sutphin (Tom); great grandchildren, Landon B. Bridwell, Sophie Bridwell, Joseph Sutphin, Addie Roy and Ella Roy. Pallbearers were Lonnie Roy, Dusty Roy, Drew Nix, Shane Bridwell, Rod Chaney and Tim Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers were Landon Bridwell and Joseph Sutphin.
Justin Shane Riner

Funeral service for Justin Shane Riner, 34, was held Wednesday, September 28,
2022 at 3 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Ben Bates officiating
and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Mr. Riner died on Friday, September 23, 2022. He was born June 9, 1988 in Morgan County to Benford “Junior” Riner and Bobbie Jean Maples Lumsdon. Justin had a heart of gold and gave the best hugs. He loved his nieces and nephews with all his heart. He enjoyed Chinese food, racing of any kind,
bluegrass music and he loved to cook. He was employed by Piggly Wiggly in the produce department prior to his passing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Betty Riner and Nina Jean Maples. Survivors include father, Junior Riner; mother, Bobbie Jean Maples Lumsdon (Miah); brother, Zach Riner (Sheena); sisters, Natashia Vaughn (Michael) and Jessica Standridge (Derek); grandfather, Bobby Maples; nieces, Hillary, Anslie, Addie, Annalise and Lennox; nephew, Jeremy; uncle, Tim Maples (Deanna). Pallbearers were Ryan Halbrooks, Michael Halbrooks, Tyler Stinson, Sammy Lawrimore II, Cleve Vinson and Keith Gilliam.
Kelly Payne

A graveside funeral service and interment for Kelly Payne, 65, was held
Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11a.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with
Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation was scheduled. Mr. Payne died Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Falkville Health Care Center. He was born September 11, 1957, in Jefferson County to Robert Franklin Payne and Wynell Margone Creel Payne, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Payne was a loving, southern gentleman that enjoyed watching Alabama
football. He was employed as a painter and home improvement specialist
prior to his retirement. He was cared for by Falkville Healthcare and
Southern New Beacon Hospice.
Karen Sanders

Beloved wife and sister, Karen Joyce Sanders, passed away peacefully after a
long, hard battle with cancer, on September 27, 2022. She was born May
16, 1956, in Lake County, Florida, to James Calvin Sanders and Kathleen
Violet Fisher Sanders. Karen was a sweet, loving, kind soul, who loved animals, especially cats.
She loved horses, nature and all outdoors. She was a veteran of the United
States Army serving 12 years. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in
death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, David R. McPeters, of Huntsville, and her
sister, Cheryl K. Sanders, of Charleston, SC. No services were scheduled at this time.
Jimmy Dale Hazel

Funeral service for Jimmy Dale Hazel, 61, was held Saturday, October 1, 2022
at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Ammons, Bro. Gary Orr
and Bro. James Wray officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial
was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Mr. Hazel died Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at his residence. He was born December 23, 1960, in Lawrence County to Ruben Hazel and Mary Ann
South Hazel. Jimmy loved his trucking career, “Eightball” was his handle. He dearly
loved his grandkids and his daughters and enjoyed traveling, Disney trips with his family and his antique T-Bucket Car. Jimmy always loved telling a good joke and making people laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Penny Smallwood Hazel, whom he truly adored and has missed every day since her death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Raymond Hazel. Survivors include daughters, Lela Hazel Morrow and Jessica Hazel Fitzgerald (E.J.); grandchildren, Brodie, Jaxson and Charleigh; brothers, Kenneth Roden, Jerry Hazel (Delores), Ricky Hazel, and Nathan Hazel (Ginger); sister, Martha Hazel. Pallbearers were Jerry Roden, Gary Orr II, Jeffrey Orr, Bob James, Frankie Brinlee and Billy Jones.
David Thayer

Mr. David Thayer passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at North Alabama Shoals Hospital. He was born May 11, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Wayne Howard Thayer and Earnestine Hardin Thayer. David worked for the F.B.I. for 38 years. He was a member of Snead Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, collecting books and everything. David had a large record collection. He was a proud Texan and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include sons, Michael Thayer (Jennifer), Jason Thayer (Ginger), and Christopher Thayer (Katie); sisters, Patricia Baugh (Ron) and Beverly Sellers (Pete); five grandchildren No services were scheduled at this time. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Burial was held in Lawrence Cove Cemetery. Mr. Drinkard died Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 21, 1972, in Morgan County to Roylend Drinkard and Shirley Thompson Drinkard. Mr. Drinkard was employed by Good Hope Pallet, working in assembly, prior to his passing. He loved the outdoors and being in nature. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Peggy Johnson and a nephew, Jackson Turrentine. Survivors include wife, Jessica Oden; son, Mitchell Tyler Drinkard; daughter, Laccie Alexandria Drinkard; parents, Roylend and Shirley Thompson Drinkard; brother, Randall Drinkard; sister, Sherry Tucker; six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Cody, Trent, Nick, Franklin, Alston and Rick. Honorary pallbearers were Adam and Phillip.
