Priceville continues to roll with a 55-10 victory over JPII
PRICEVILLE — The 4A No. 7 Priceville Bulldogs continued to roll as they defeated St. John Paul II 55-10 on homecoming this past Friday at Bulldogs Stadium.
The Bulldogs took an early 7-0 lead when Jackson Prickett connected with Xander Gaines for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
After a Falcons field goal made the score 7-3, Priceville responded with a Gaines 40-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion to make the score 15-3 heading into the second quarter.
Jaylen Moseley intercepted a St. John Paul II pass inside the Priceville 20 and returned it 84 yards for a touchdown and a 22-3 lead.
Moseley added a seven-yard touchdown reception from Prickett to put the Bulldogs up 29-3 at halftime.
Mason Cartee opened the third quarter with a 60-yard touchdown run to put Priceville up 36-3. Gaines then intercepted a Falcons’ pass and returned it 37-yards for a score and a 43-3 lead.
Blitz Clemons closed out the third-quarter scoring with a 63-yard touchdown run to make the score 49-3 heading to the fourth quarter.
After a 97-yard St. John Paul II scoring drive, Priceville’s Bronson Carroll scored on a 12-yard touchdown run to make the final score 55-10.
Priceville finished with 330 yards rushing and 90 yards passing while holding the Falcons to 280 yards.
Cartee finished with 129 yards rushing and a touchdown on six carries and had one reception for 59 yards. Gaines had 48 yards rushing and a touchdown on two carries and two receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown. Clemons finished with 77 yards rushing, while Carroll added 62 yards rushing.
Prickett finished 4-of-4 passing for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bulldog’s defense caused four turnovers, including three interceptions, six sacks, and 5.5 tackles for loss. Brody Collins and Larson Speegle each had nine tackles, while Gaines had eight and an interception. Sage Smothers finished with seven tackles and a sack.
Priceville (7-0, 4-0) heads to North Jackson (1-5, 1-3) on Friday.
