Main Street Business League to host exchange Oct. 24

There’s been some confusion on a new group in Hartselle, but volunteers want to set the record straight.

The Main Street Business League (MSBL) is a group of local businesses, organizations and community members interested in investing in, preserving and advancing Hartselle’s downtown area. Designed to work together with existing organizations including the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce and the HDH Merchant Association, the group hopes to help widen the scope of community events and to work together to establish the downtown area “as the social, cultural, economic and historical focal point in our community.”

“There are a lot of people who already advocate for the downtown district, and each care about Hartselle for reasons that are specific to them,” said Chris Rigoni, board member for the MSBL. “This organization is meant to take all of those advocates’ needs and dreams into account and make an already fantastic downtown district even better for all to enjoy.”

To clear up confusion and share ideas, the group is hosting an exchange Oct. 24 from 5-6 p.m. at The Venue, next to Warehouse Coffee on Main Street. The exchange is open to all community members who value Hartselle’s Historic Downtown District, and will feature finger foods and a chance to meet the group’s board of directors and committee members and learn more about their mission and how to get involved.

The group held a successful Sip & Scramble and Sidewalk Sale downtown in July, and is planning more upcoming events in the city, including a Candy Land event at the Depot during the Downtown Hartselle Christmas Open House celebration Nov. 13, from 1-4 p.m.
