Is your faith stagnant?

By Todd Barrier

I was recently reading a story about a man named Victor. Victor was a big-time drug dealer in the 90s. He controlled a massive territory on the West Coast – nothing happened in his territory without his knowledge. He had all of the worldly power, money and prestige in his world that he could handle. His identity was found in these things and so was his faith. Then one day it all came crumbling down, he was arrested and put in jail. During his time in jail Victor felt empty, he knew something was missing. Eventually a New Testament Bible found its way to Victor and he read it. He saw the error of his ways; he saw the life that Christ offered and he gave up his old ways. His identity and faith were now found in Christ. Victor has since been released from prison and travels across the country and world speaking to people about the gospel of Christ. What an amazing faith. In Matthew 8, Jesus marvels at the faith of a centurion because of how great his faith is in seeking Jesus to heal his servant. We look at someone like Victor who is doing amazing things and marvel at his faith the way Jesus marveled at the centurion, never thinking we can do the same. When our identity is found in Christ, our faith grows, it becomes an amazing faith and through Him and with His help we can do amazing things and bring more people to Christ. Is your faith amazing or stagnant?
