Three Hartselle athletes sign college scholarships
Three Hartselle athletes signed college scholarships this past week. Golfers Jinger Heath and Tristan Wisener along with softball player Aly Putnam made it official with their signatures.
Aly Putnam
Putnam signed with the Marion Military Institute softball program led by coach Jeff Benson, the 2022 ACCC North Coach of the Year. The Lady Tigers finished 32-27-1 last season.
“Playing college softball after high school is honestly a dream come true. When you grow up watching college softball and major figures like Jennie Finch, you dream to even have the opportunity,” Putnam said. “Now I can finally say I was given the opportunity to fulfill that dream, and all I can say is how thankful I am. MMI allows me to pursue not only a military career, but also it provides an opportunity to continue playing the sport that I love.”
Jinger Heath
Heath signed with Jacksonville State and is the first signee for coach Robbie Fields, a Hartselle alumnus.
Heath is one of the top junior players in the state. She is ranked No. 2 in Alabama’s class of 2023.
She is a four-time Morgan County Tournament champion and was runner-up at the 2022 Class 6A state tournament.
Her brother, Ryley, is a member of Jacksonville State’s men’s team.
Tristin Wisener
Wisener signed to play golf for the University of Alabama. He will play for coach Jay Seawell.
Last spring, Wisener finished fifth in the Class 6A state tournament. Leading up to the state tournament, Wisener was a threat to medal in every tournament he entered. He won Class 6A Section 4 with a 73 and with a 68 in the sub-state.
Wisener’s stock began to rise following his win at the prestigious Future Masters in Dothan. He shot 70 and 71 in the two-day event to win the 15-16 age group. He finished fourth overall in the tournament.
