Funeral service for Pamela Kaye Hyde, 76, was held Wednesday, December 7,
2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Hyde passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 at her residence. She was born February 2, 1946, in Oklahoma, to Charles Harris and Isabell Kaye Wilks Harris. She was a homemaker for her family, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include husband, Jack Hyde; son, Matthew Morelan (Pam Morelan); daughters, Michelle Mummert and Angela Segars (Patrick Segars); brother, David Wilkes; grandchildren, Paul Reil, Joshua Reil, Rosalie Lowman, Jon Reil, James Reil, Katie Preston, Kasey Bentley, Ryan Morelan, Max Segars and Casey Mummert; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Bettie Burks Horton went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2022. She was 89 years old. Bettie was born January 27, 1933 in Cullman County, Ala. to Robert and Myrtle Hawkins Burks. She was married to Marlin Horton for 64 years and she worked for Dr. James E. Moody for 27 years. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marlin and her son, Glenn Horton; brothers, Leroy Burks, two sisters, Wilma Flack and Ressie Bishop; daughter-in-law, Sharon Garner Horton. Funeral service was held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Burks officiating with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery. Survivors include brother, Bobby Burks (Sylvia); granddaughter, Jessica Horton Murray (Philip). Pallbearers were Kenny Hayes, Tony Burks, Daniel Burks, Ricky Burks, Kevin Horton and Bill Horton. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Glenn Horton Memorial Scholarship at Wallace State Community College.

Funeral service for Penny Mason, 51, was held Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Grange Hall Cemetery. Ms. Mason died Monday, December 5, 2022 at her residence. She was born December 3, 1971, in Morgan County to Dewey Wayne Mason and Patricia Jones Mason. Ms. Mason was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Alabama football fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, Valentine Ayala, and one daughter, Erica Ayala. Survivors include two sons, Alex Ayala, Decatur, Ala. and Chris Ayala, Decatur, Ala.; three daughters, Shea Mason, Nashville, Tenn., Marinia Prince, Moulton, Ala., and Sara Pryor, Trinity, Ala.; mother, Patricia Mason, Moulton, Ala.; brother, Marcus Mason, Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Beth Mason Thomas, Somerville, Ala. and Tina Crowe, Somerville, Ala. and ten grandchildren. Pallbearers were Alex Ayala, Dylan Alexander, Kendrick Prince, Taylor Gregory and Marcus Mason.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Legg died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his residence. He was born September 1,1934, in Morgan County to Talmadge Legg and Beauford Hendrix Legg. Mr. Legg was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pam Sieweke; brother, Carl Legg; sister, Geraldine Locke and by his first wife, Mary Lou Pickett Legg. Mr. Legg proudly retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a family man who dearly loved his family and friends and he never met a stranger. Survivors include wife, Rosa Lee Legg, Hartselle; three sons, Bill Legg (Deborah), Trussville, Jody Wynn (Cindy), Hartselle, and Jeff Wynn, Hartselle; three daughters, Kathy Lamp, Hartselle, Nancy Moore (Danny), Hartselle, and Leeann Sparks (Tom), Hartselle; two brothers, Donald Legg, Hartselle and Jimmy Legg (Sue), Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; sister, Madrue Driver (Charles), Hartselle; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Ms. Castleberry, who was born June 3, 1951 in Decatur, Ala. to Herman Garfield Faulkner and Lora Lee Thompson Faulkner, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was a big Alabama fan, an animal lover and loved her family. Survivors include two sisters, Sue Bodley and Pamela Faulkner Duke (Larry); niece, Debra Bodley Kreps (Rodney); nephew, Greg Bodley (Cathy); great-nieces, Brittany Harvel, Shelley Carter (Clint) and Catherine Bodley; great-nephew, Zac Bodley; great-great niece, Blakely and great-great nephew, Cooper.
Brian Paul McCullough

Brian Paul McCullough, 46, passed away December 7, 2022 in Northampton, Mass. after an extended illness. He is survived by his father, Paul (Mac) McCullough of Blairsville, Ga., his mother, Barbara Mancini of Arrington, Tenn. and his sister, Dr. Mary Beth McCullough of Atlanta, Ga. Born in Birmingham in 1976, Brian loved music from an early age and was an accomplished multi-instrument musician and singer. He graduated from University School in Nashville where he was the featured performer at the graduation ceremony. Brian earned a full scholarship to Vanderbilt University and later obtained his degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. Brian, a Massachusetts resident, performed with local musical groups as well as independently. A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date at Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point. Brian sang “I Can See Clearly Now” at his high school graduation. See the wonders around you now, Brian, and rest in peace.

Mr. Morgan died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born September 18,1951, in Morgan County to Earnest Edward Morgan and Elizabeth Rhodes Morgan. Mike retired as a supervisor at the film plant (D-9) at 3M where he was employed for 35 years. Survivors include wife, Jan Morgan; son, Ryan Morgan; two daughters, Kelly Morgan Haraway and Kathryn Morgan Parker (Scott); grandchildren Mitchell Poole, Aidan Poole, Madelyn Kate Haraway, Mack Haraway, Logan Haraway, Austin Parker, Daniel Ryan Morgan and Ella Grace Morgan.

Mr. Willis “Buddy” Roberts died Friday, December 9, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born September 22, 1947, in Morgan County to Odis Roberts and Geraldine King Roberts. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janice Roberts, brother, Hoyt Roberts, and sister, Ruth Roberts. Survivors include, son, Joseph Roberts; daughter, DeAnna Hudgins (Jimmy); brothers, Edward Roberts and Gernie Roberts; sisters, Marie Roberts and Helen Roberts; three grandchildren. No services have been planned at this time. Peck Funeral Home assisted the family.

Ms. Vinson died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at UAB Hospital. She was born July 13, 1981, in Morgan County to Anthony Lee Vinson and Nora Phyllis Cryer Vinson. Ms. Vinson was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include son, Braden Hoffheins; daughters, Sarah Smitherman and Eliza Hoffheins; brothers, Jeremy Vinson, Dewayne Vinson and Naaman Vinson; sister, Jackie Watkins (Petey); best friends/sisters, Robin Ohsner, Angela Shadden and Sam Crumbley and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Franklin died Thursday December 13, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Mrs. Franklin was born September 25, 1951 in West Columbia Texas to Medford Smith and Anita Smith Mattson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Scotty Smith. She is survived by husband, Ray Franklin; son, Chad Franklin; daughter, Christy Franklin; brothers, David Smith and Danny Smith.

Mrs. Wills died Friday, December 9, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Cathy was born August 12, 1961 to Jack and Merle Russell. Mrs. Wills and her husband were the owners of CJ’s Steak and Seafood. Cathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to go camping and spending time with her family. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, William and Hettie Russell and Lloyd and Ethel Jarrett. Survivors include husband, Joel Wills; two daughters, Tabitha O’Rear (Josh Lacy), and Oddessia Bonner (Jamie); daughter in love, Crystal Skinner; mother, Rosemary Russell; one brother, Billy Russell (Marjorie); five grandchildren, Samantha O’Rear (Shane), Anna Bonner, Levi Bonner, Olivia Bonner, Nevaeh Lacy; one great-grandchild, Ember O’Rear.

Graveside service for Charlie Rogers, 79, of Falkville was held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with Rev. Scott Sessions officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Charlie, who was born February 22, 1943 in Cullman to Battie Rogers and Audie Elizabeth Evans Rogers, died Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home. He and his wife, Tina had owned and operated Charlie’s Food Mart in Falkville for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the Cullman Nazarene Church, the Falkville Masonic Lodge and the Falkville Jaycee’s. They operated the Stuckey’s at Lacon back in the 1970s. Charlie had many things that he loved to do: golf, fish, cook, sports, Alabama football, woodworking and making money. But perhaps he was best known for his barbeque and his special gift of telling a good story. He and Tina always said “they were so blessed to have such a wonderful family and great friends.” Survivors include wife of 60 years, Patricia Martina “Tina” Rogers; one son, Randy Rogers (Tonia); three daughters, Tammy Brasher (Billy); Genny Williams (Darryl), and Karen Stinson (Jeff); one brother, Doug Rogers (Bonnie); one sister, Imogene Brimer; sister-in-love, Renee’ Wright; eight grandchildren, Evan Brasher (Tiffany), Ashley Shadden (Cory), Hunter Brasher, Ryder Brasher, Emily Clark, Haley Craft (Justin), Kelsey Rogers and Clay Rogers; five great-grandchildren, Addyson, Cooper, Brayden, Presley and Roper. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Falkville food pantry.

Mrs. Jackson died Saturday, December 10, 2022 at her residence. Judy was born on November 29, 1945 in Franklin County, Ala. to Kenneth and Lucille McAlpin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Judy was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, and she was active in the children’s ministry. Mrs. Jackson was an assistant in youth sports. Judy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors Include husband, John Scotty Jackson; one son, John Allen Jackson; one daughter, Amy K. Legg; one brother, Joel McAlpin; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Blake Slayton, Brandon Slayton, Garrett Legg, Noah Moats, Luke Moats and Weylin Norris.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Mrs. Rolfe died Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her residence. She was born September 6, 1937, in Morgan County, to Thomas Howard Johnson and Ollie Aurelia (Helms) Johnson. Julia was a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church. She was a kind, gentle lady that loved everyone, especially her family. Mrs. Rolfe was the secretary at A.P. Brewer High School. She and Mr. Tucker opened the school in 1973 and she retired in 1996. Preceded in her in death were her husband, Perry Rolfe and her parents. Survivors include son, Phillip Rolfe (Brenda); daughter, Belinda Thompson (Steve); sister, Dot Garner; grandchildren, Joseph Thompson and Liz Thompson; best friend, Elizabeth Maxwell. Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Rolfe, Herb Willis, Roger Garner, Bradley Bell, Rick Bell and Christopher Binkley.
