A graveside funeral service and interment for Betty Holmes Clemons, 89, was held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Thomas Patterson, her son-in-law, officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Ms. Clemons died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at her residence. She was born March 27, 1933, in Morgan County, to Henry R. Holmes and Vinnie L. Smith Holmes. Betty was retired from the State of Alabama where she worked as an
employment security representative. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Survivors include daughters, Keitha Rankin (Link), Valerie Clemons, Lynn Clemons, Connie Childers and Dee Patterson (Thomas); nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Hospice of the Valley.
William Paul Campbell

A visitation for William Paul Campbell, 76, was held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell died Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born October 15, 1946, in Morgan County to William Campbell and Camilla Duke Sandlin Campbell. He was employed as a carpenter. He was a very thoughtful and patient man, with a great sense of humor. He loved giving gag gifts and cutting up with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and wood-working. Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Shaddrix, his parents and a half-brother, Billy Dean Hodge. Survivors include wife, Laura Bradberry Campbell; sons, Jerry Shaddrix (Tracey) and Jeff Shaddrix; daughters, Lisa Campbell and Donna Cone (Joey); daughter-in-law, Tammy Shaddrix; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jeannie Alexander

Jeannie Bramlett Alexander of Massey, Alabama, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold “Buddy” Bramlett, and grandson, William Russell Alexander, Jr. She is survived by her husband Phillip Eric Alexander, her mother, Bettie Rose Hardwick Bramlett Morris, her sister Susie Bramlett Eckert and brother Thomas Bramlett, her four children Caroline Alexander Vaessen, Amanda Alexander Jenkins, William Alexander, Sr. and Benjamin Alexander, their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at New Life Church with Bro. Phillip Hardin officiating. Interment followed at Herring Cemetery following the service. Jeannie was at the top of her high school class and one of the first female graduates in the electrical engineering program at Auburn University. Being the only girl in a class of 44 boys, she quickly drew the attention of a young Phillip Alexander, who swiftly became the love of her life. Jeannie (GG) was a mother first. Her electric personality and exuberance for life came with the laughter and joy of her children and more importantly her grandchildren. Her energy never stopped there. She had love and care for the children and friends in every neighborhood she graced. Jeannie served as the music director for New Life Church and loved and was beloved by the congress there. She enjoyed planning a garden, caring for babies, leading bible studies, and giving companionship and advice when needed, Jeannie was a source of love, care, and inspiration, to her family, church, and community. Teaching people to love music, farming, jokes, and even just life itself, she will be greatly missed.

A graveside funeral service and interment for Anneliese Maria Bonds, 91, was held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Bonds died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 6, 1932, in Heidelberg, Germany. She was a homemaker for her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a daughter, Donna Spears. Survivors include husband, Bobby Bonds; son, Donny Brown; daughters, Joann Bustamante (Juan) and Diann Sikes; sister, Else Mlezick; grandchildren, Amelia Bustamante, Deacon Bustamante, Morgan Vines, Alexandria Frankum, Michael Spears and Katie Brown and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Juan Bustamante, Brent Gilliam, Deacon Bustamante, Taylor Frankum and Donny Brown.

Miss Maude Altman,102, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was born October 9, 1920, in West Palm Beach County, Florida, to Ellis Friend Altman and Marie Elizabeth Weist Altman. She was employed as a veterinarian assistant for The Veterinarian Clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida, prior to her retirement. She was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii. No services were scheduled at this time.

A memorial service for Kenny (Kasey) Bryant Milligan-Wilhite, 56, was held Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cody Landis officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Milligan-Wilhite died Monday, January 9, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 6, 1966, in Morgan County, to Johnathan Roland Wilhite and Juanita Jackson Williams. He was employed as an insurance underwriter for Pinco, prior to his passing. He was a huge Alabama fan, loved going to auto races and was an advocate for HIV awareness and protection. He had the biggest heart and was willing to help anyone that needed his help. He truly lived for his nieces and nephews and loved his family dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents, Johnathan Wilhite and Juanita and John Williams and a brother, John Wayne Williams, Jr. Survivors include spouse, Eric Jay Milligan-Wilhite; child, Star Bones Milligan-Wilhite; brothers, Johnathan Wilhite, Gregory Williams, and Timothy Wayne Williams; uncles, Jerry Jackson and Donnie Jackson; aunts, Mary Hitt and Melinda Vest; several cousins; nieces, Precious Daughtery, Jasmine Wilhite, Aarrika Porter, Ashley Williams, Porsha Freels, Katie Williams and Heather Bates; nephews, Travis Anderson, Jay Jay Williams, Joey Williams, Christopher Williams, Josh Porter, Alex Porter, Aaron Porter, Kasey Williams and Kenneth Williams; several great nieces and great nephews.

Burial was in Herring Cemetery. Mrs. Vinson died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born October 15, 1948, in Morgan County, to James Aubra Orr and Ruby
Evalene Self Orr. She was employed as a teacher for the Community Action Head Start, prior to her retirement. She loved her literature ministry at Decatur Baptist Church and loved her Bible Study department. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Retha Denney and a daughter, Amy Vinson. Survivors include husband, Charles Vinson; son, Alan Vinson (Cindy); daughter, Tonya Vinson Crovo; brothers, Darryl Orr (Elaine) and Gwen Orr (Paula); grandchildren, Ariel Hartsfield (Murray), Amber Brooks (Adam), Haley McCown, Kevin Vinson and Rachel Crovo; great-grandchildren, Ryker Vinson, Harmonee Foster and Fallon Crovo. Pallbearers were John Barnette, Rick Puckett, Chris Crovo, Murray Hartsfield, Adam Brooks and Glenn Redmon. Honorary Pallbearers were Ryker Vinson, Isaiah Roberts and Kevin Vinson.

A private family graveside service for Joe H. Slate, 92, at Herring Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Dr. Joe H. Slate died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at his residence. He was born September 21, 1930, in Morgan County, to Murphy Slate and Marie Hutson Slate. Joe H. Slate holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama, with post-doctoral studies at the University of California. Dr. Slate was appointed Professor Emeritus in 1992, after having served as Professor of Psychology, Head of the Division of Behavioral Sciences, and Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Athens State University in Alabama. He is an Honorary Professor at Montevallo University and a former adjunct professor at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. Dr. Slate is a licensed psychologist and member of the American Psychological Association. He is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and the Prescribing Psychologist’s Register. As head of Athens State University Psychology Department and Director of Institutional Effectiveness, he established the University’s parapsychology research laboratory and introduced experimental parapsychology, biofeedback, hypnosis and self-hypnosis into the instructional and research programs. His research includes projects for the U.S. Army Missile Research and Development Command, the Parapsychology Foundation of New York, and numerous private sources. He is the founder of the International Parapsychology Research
Institute and Foundation (PRIF) which, in addition to sponsoring research, has endowed a scholarship program in perpetuity at Athens State University. He established the Dr. Joe H. and Rachel Slate Scholarship at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa), and the Dr. Joe H. and Rachel Slate Scholarship for the Arts at Athens State University. Each Scholarship exists in perpetuity and is awarded annually to students who need financial assistance. Dr. Slate has appeared on several radio and television shows, including Strange Universe the History Channel and Sightings. He is an accomplished author of over 20 books on a wide range of topics in psychology and self-help. Preceding him in death were his wife, Rachel Slate, a brother, Max Slate and his parents. Survivors include his sons, Marc Slate (Marsha), David Slate (Traci) and Daryl Slate (Shonna W.), a brother, Jack Slate, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Mrs. Jones died Friday, January 13, 2023 at Hospice Family Care. She was born Thursday, September 15, 1938, in Cullman County to Troy Jackson Walker Blevins and Lena Elizabeth Crauswell Blevins. She was a homemaker for her
family and a wonderful wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.F. “Frank” Jones, her parents and two brothers, Sammy Blevins and Allen Blevins. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Thompson (Herb) and Donna Burnett (Richard); brothers, Douglas Blevins, Jerry Blevins, and Jack Blevins; sister, Marcella “Marcie” Keith; numerous nieces and nephews and Toby, her sweet dog. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Charles was born January 27, 1968 in Morgan County, Ala. to Charles William Anders and Charlette Dee Childers Anders. He passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at his residence. Charles was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Charles and Betty Childers. Survivors include son, Drake Anders; mother, Charlette (Childers) Taylor; step-mother, Bertha (Anders) Gallik; brother, Bobby Sparks; sister, Tonie Hill; stepsister, Jackie Eubanks; grandchildren and Aunt-Janice (Childers) Thomas.
