Mental Health Association receives grant for stop bullying program

Mental Health Association in Morgan County has been awarded a $100,163 state grant to develop a bullying and cyberbullying prevention program.
Led by Executive Director Susan Claborn, the association plans to use utilize National Alliance for Youth Sports Bullying Prevention resources with the grant funds provided through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
The nonprofit will also utilize additional educational materials such as bullying and youth with disabilities, special health needs and understanding mental illness.
The education will include creating bully-free environments, what you can do about bullying, and the roles of the bully, victim, and bystander.
The program will include community awareness and additional funds will be used to address the mental health needs of adults. Service areas include Lawrence and Morgan counties.
