Tigers softball suffers three losses at Patriot Classic
This past weekend, the Hartselle Tigers softball team suffered three losses by one run at the Patriot Classic in Tuscaloosa. They lost 1-0 to Fairhope and Tuscaloosa Co. while suffering a 2-1 loss to Spain Park. Then, they picked up a 7-3 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and a 3-2 win over Orange Beach.
Tuscaloosa County 1, Hartselle 0
Chloe Gray had the Tigers’ only hit in their 1-0 loss to Tuscaloosa Co. in bracket play at the Patriot Classic last Saturday.
Blayne Godfrey picked up the loss after pitching five innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out 10.
Hartselle 3, Orange Beach 2
Brantley Drakes’s walk-off single gave the Tigers a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Orange Beach.
Jones had two hits and two runs scored, while Brityan Godfrey added two hits. Sarah Bowling picked up the win after allowing two runs on three hits in five innings.
Spain Park 2, Hartselle 1
Katie Norgard had a hit and an RBI in Hartselle’s 2-1 loss to Spain Park at the Patriot Classic this past Friday.
Kaelyn Jones had two hits. Blayne Godfrey suffered a hard-luck loss. She pitched five innings with nine strikeouts.
Hartselle 7, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 3
The Tigers scored runs in each of the first four innings as they picked up a 7-3 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Kaelyn Jones had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI to lead the Hartselle offense.
Brityan Godfrey had a hit and two RBI, while Bratley Drake, Chloe Gray and Virginia Kate Hoyle each had an RBI.
Blayne Godfrey picked up the win after pitching four innings. She allowed no runs on two hits with four strikeouts.
Fairhope 1, Hartselle 0
Brityan Godfrey and Katie Gillott each had a hit as Hartselle fell 1-0 to 7A Fairhope.
Sarah Bowling took the loss after allowing one run on six hits in five innings.
