Danville ladies group helps Ukraine family
By Martha Jackson
The Danville ladies group met for their March meeting at Warehouse Coffee in Hartselle, hosted by Susan Auyer and Rita Burden. Their charity chairperson Babette O’Shea delivered the devotion. Babette shared with the group about a Ukrainian family of four, that are being sponsored by Elena Bilchenko and Wes Blanding. She also discussed with the group about the different ways that they could help the Ukrainian family. Their two boys are age four and six and are in headstart and kindergarten. They will start school in a couple of weeks and will need school supplies, clothes, shoes and simple books and toys to teach English. The group elected to get two laundry baskets and fill them for the boys for Easter . The boys are a size 4t and 6t and the 6-year-old boy is tall and tiny. The parents ask for nothing for themselves, only for their boys. Also good used clothes will be acceptable for the boys. They are in need of everything.
The items can be dropped off at the Alabama Beauty College in Decatur. The College is located at 141 14th Street S.W., Decatur, Tuesday-Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. The family arrived in the U.S. on Feb. 9 after leaving their settled life and good jobs due to ongoing conflict. Nadia and Yevhen Rehniev and their sons, Andrii and Kyrylo are pictured above. Nadia is training at the Alabama Beauty College and her husband is a handy man by trade.
