Escape inmate recaptured in Priceville

March 24, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Fugitive Task Force assisted by the Morgan County Drug Sheriff’s Enforcement Unit (DEU), Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Patrol Deputies and our Unmanned Flight Operations (UFO) Unit in locating Avril Dewayne Charest of Somerville at a residence on Turkey Mountain Road near Priceville. Charest walked off a jobsite while on work release in late February.
Charest attempted to flee the residence but was easily tracked and quickly apprehended after being tazed.
Charest was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession and receipt of a controlled substance and a warrant escape in the second degree. He was booked in the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $51,300.
During the operation, DEU Agents obtained a search warrant for the residence. They charged Gordon Dale Hughes II of Somerville with obstruction and hindering the apprehension of an escapee, unlawful possession of a concealed weapon and unlawful possession and receipt of a controlled substance. He was booked in the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $7,500.
Officers with the Priceville Police Department and agents with the FBI assisted.
