Hartselle shuts out Muscle Shoals to pick up area series win
The Hartselle Tigers dominated Muscle Shoals in every aspect of the game in their series sweep of the Trojans. Hartselle pitchers allowed no runs and only four hits in the three-game series while striking out 31 Muscle Shoals batters. The Tigers outscored Muscle Shoals 28-0, connecting on 12 extra-base hits, including four home runs.
Game one: Hartselle 7, Muscle Shoals 0
Jack Smith turned in a dominating performance in Hartselle’s 7-0 series-opening win over Muscle Shoals. He pitched a no-hitter and struck out a Hartselle record 16 opposing batters. He allowed only three baserunners, all by walk.
Coleman Mizell finished 2-of-3 with a home run and a double and had two RBI to lead the Hartselle offense. Lawson Williams had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs, while Eli Tidwell and Cam Palahach each had a hit and an RBI. Cade Miles added two hits, including a double.
Game two: Hartselle 10, Muscle Shoals 0
Tiger pitching was again the story in game two of their series with the Trojans. Peyton Steele and Nic Chumley combined for a two-hit shutout in Hartselle’s 10-0 win.
Steele picked up the win after pitching five innings and allowed one hit while striking out five. Chumley pitched an inning of relief and allowed one hit.
Mizell had two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored to pace the Tigers’ offense. Cade Miles added two hits, including a double, and two RBI, while Greyson Howard had a hit and two RBI. Steele and Cam Palahach each had two hits and an RBI.
Game three: Hartselle 11, Muscle Shoals 0
Jace Meadows showed no sign of nerves in his first career start for Hartselle. He pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout to lead the Tigers to an 11-0 win in game three. He struck out nine in six innings.
Steele had two hits, including a home run, three RBI and three runs scored, while Miles added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Coleman Mizell doubled and had two RBIs.
