Standouts of the week
It was another exciting week of baseball, softball and soccer in the Hartselle area. Below are some of the standouts for the week ending April 1.
Baseball
Coleman Mizell, Hartselle: Mizell had 13 hits, including six home runs, and had 13 RBI while scoring nine runs as Hartselle won five out of six games this past week.
Jace Meadows, Hartselle: Meadows struck out five in seven innings while giving up three earned runs to pick up the win in Hartselle’s 17-4 win over Hamilton Southeastern (IN).
JoJo Garrison, Priceville: Garrison pitched a complete game, allowing three runs while striking out 13 in Priceville’s 12-3 win over West Morgan. He homered and drove in four in their 13-3 win over the Rebels.
Thomas Kerby, Priceville: Kerby pitched a complete game for the win, allowing three runs on four hits with 11 strikeouts in Priceville’s 13-3 win over West Morgan. He had a home run and two RBI in their 12-3 win over the Rebels.
Wes Walker, Priceville: Walker hit three home runs and drove in seven runs in Priceville’s wins over West Morgan and New Hope.
Reece Cowart, Danville: Cowart hit a home run and had two RBI in Danville’s 6-4 win over Addison.
Dylan Thomas, Brewer: Thomas had two hits, including a double, and three RBI to lead Brewer to a 12-4 win over Fairview.
Softball
Kaelyn Jones, Hartselle: Jones finished with 13 hits, including a home run, two triples and a double, seven RBI, scored 11 runs and had 11 stolen bases in Hartselle’s six games in the Gulf Coast Classic.
Blayne Godfrey, Hartselle: Godfrey pitched 15 innings and struck out 27 while allowing seven runs in three games at the Gulf Coast Classic.
Brantley Drake, Hartselle: Drake had seven hits, including a home run, two doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored at the Gulf Coast Classic.
Brooklyn Stiles, Hartselle: Stiles had six hits, including three doubles, five RBI and five runs scored at the Gulf Coast Classic.
Bentley Black, Priceville: Black had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored in a 5-2 win over West Morgan. She had three hits, including a double, four RBI and three runs scored in a 20-3 win over Falkville.
Katee King, Priceville: King had three hits, including a home run and two doubles, five RBI and scored three runs in a 20-3 win over Falkville.
Wrozlie Barnett, Priceville: Barnett had a hit and two runs scored in a 5-2 win over West Morgan. She had four hits, three RBI and three runs scored in a 20-3 win over Falkville.
Bronwyn Borden, Brewer: Borden had three hits, including a double and an RBI, while pitching a complete game, striking out six while allowing four runs in seven innings to lead Brewer to a 9-4 win over Madison Co.
Hannah Tillman, Danville: Tillman pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout while striking out 11 and had an RBI in Danville’s 10-0 win over Falkville.
Soccer
Jack Adams, Hartselle: Adams scored three goals, including two shootout goals, as Hartselle went 3-0 and won the Southern Coast Cup.
Luke Minnon, Hartselle: Minnon scored two goals to lead Hartselle to a 4-1 over Brewbaker Tech.
Slate Gargus, Hartselle: Gargus scored two goals, including the winning shootout goal to beat St. Luke’s, as Hartselle went 3-0 and won the Southern Coast Cup.
