Being a man of God
By Todd Barrier
This past weekend we celebrated Father’s Day. This holiday is a great day to honor those special men in our life. God has given a special place in His church to men. In a conversation with his son Solomon, David tells him to “prove himself a man” (1 Kings 2), in other words, be a man (a man of God.)
The verses tell Solomon to follow God’s commands and to walk in His ways. He also tells him he will be spiritually blessed if he does these things. In another conversation with his son in 1 Chronicles 28, David gives him ways to practice following God and walking in His ways. He says he must know Him, serve Him and seek Him.
If Christian men follow these steps, we will be the kind of men God wants us to be and the world will be better for it. Are you seeking to be a man of God?
