Hartselle 6U and 8U all-stars to play in AAYS World Series
Two teams of softball all-stars hit the road this week looking to bring home an All-American Youth Sports World Series championship. Games will be played Thursday through Saturday at Shiloh Park in Brandon, Mississippi.
The 6U team, coached by Chase Lusk, is looking to bring home their fourth championship of the season. They previously won North Alabama’s Pre-Area 1, Pre-Area 2 and Area tournaments. They finished runner-up in the State Tournament after battling out of the loser’s bracket.
“After coming up short at State to a very impressive West Mobile team, my girls came back ready to practice even harder,” Lusk said. “This group of girls are so special! They all have determination and grit. They each love the game of softball and have been more than willing to put in the work, practicing three to four nights a week all summer long. I fully expect for the girls to be successful at the World Series and represent Hartselle well.”
Despite what happens this week, the girls will have made memories that will last a lifetime.
“I am very fortunate to be the coach of such a great group of six and seven-year-old girls,” Lusk said. “They are more than a softball team, they’re all best friends. Thanks to all that have supported us through this 2023 All-Star season.”
The 8U team, coached by Anna Holland and Michael Putman, looks to bring home their first trophy of the season. They have battled in a tough North Alabama 8U group and should be ready for the competition they will face in Brandon.
“These girls have worked very hard to prepare for World Series,” Holland said. “They have endured long practices in this heat without complaining. Watching their skill levels grow immensely over this All-Stars season has been fun! All of them are more confident ball players, better hitters, faster runners after all the hard work over the last two months.”
The 8U Lady Tigers are ready to show out at the World Series and let everyone know what Hartselle softball is about!
