Brewer High School cheerleaders ‘tee off’ for good cause
Brewer High School cheerleaders are getting ready to showcase their team spirit off the field by hosting an exciting golf tournament Aug. 26. The tournament promises to be a day of fun, camaraderie, and friendly competition, all for a worthy cause.
The event will take place at the Chesley Oaks Golf Course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Early birds can check in and register from 7 a.m. onwards. Teams of four are invited to participate, with the cost set at $400 per team. For an extra edge in the game, there’s a 4-man scramble mulligan package available, along with the option to purchase two mulligans and one power drive at $20 per person. Please note that payments will be accepted in cash or check only, and all checks should be made payable to Brewer High School.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to fuel the players throughout the day. As the golfers make their way through the challenging course, they’ll have their eyes on the prize. The top three teams will be awarded cash prizes, adding a competitive edge to the friendly event. Additionally, special gift prizes await those with the longest drive and closest to the pin skills. Participants and spectators alike will have opportunities to win door prizes, and for those feeling a bit lucky, a 50/50 split raffle will be available, with tickets priced at $10 each.

Falkville High School cheerleaders shine at UCA Cheer Camp
In other news, the Falkville High School Varsity and junior high cheerleaders are celebrating their outstanding performance at the UCA Cheer Camp held at Auburn University. Among the standout cheerleaders, Melody Sims and Miriah Jackson received the prestigious “Pin it Forward” Award, a recognition of their exemplary leadership qualities.
Adding to the accolades, Gracie Stidham, Ella Kyker and Talon Payne were awarded the coveted All American Cheerleader Awards, an honor that highlights their exceptional cheerleading skills.

Shady Grove Baptist Church holds VBS
On a heartwarming note, members of Shady Grove Baptist Church recently hosted a successful Vacation Bible School. With 55 enthusiastic children enrolled and an impressive average attendance of 54, the VBS was a resounding success. Moreover, the generous offerings, totaling $277.94, will be donated to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, supporting a worthy cause that benefits children in need.
Currently, the church members are actively collecting items for the Operation Christmas Shoe Box project. If you wish to contribute, they are in need of pencils, crayons, coloring books, washcloths, soap, hairbows, small toys and stuffed animals.
