Railroad project completed on Tabernacle Road
A project to add signalization and cross bars added to the railroad crossing on Tabernacle Road has been completed.
The project was funded by the Alabama Department of Transportation, the Morgan County Commission and the City of Hartselle.
The Hartselle City Council has approved a resolution in February 2021 to see the project come to fruition.
“This will add much needed safety to this crossing and this was something I had been approached about several times during my time in office,” Mayor Randy Garrison said. “I am glad the City of Hartselle could partner for the Morgan County Commission to split the local match.”
The project upgraded railroad crossing devices, including mast mounted signals, gates, bells, signs, markings and legends, according to ALDOT, and cost $353,000 with the local price tag coming in at $35,000.
