Evans resigns from Hartselle chamber

Missy Evans, president and CEO of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, resigned from her position effective Aug. 25.

“It has been an honor to work alongside the volunteer leadership of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce to advance the welfare of Hartselle and the surrounding community. This city is rich with inspired, talented business leaders that are working together to improve our local economy and quality of life for all who call the Hartselle area home,” Evans said. “As we look to the next leader of the Chamber, I am confident that the positive momentum we are enjoying will continue to drive the Chamber’s mission of maintaining and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate forward.”

Maegan Jones, chairman of the board of the HACC, said Evans, who joined the chamber January 6, 2020 was the right person for the job.

The unwavering and visionary leadership of Missy Evans has allowed the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce to achieve remarkable and unprecedented growth in area partnerships, membership growth, exciting new programming, vitality for our community and execution of a successful capital campaign,” Jones said. “Missy’s dedication to our chamber’s transformative initiatives have left a tremendous mark on our organization. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for her remarkable contributions that have propelled us to new heights, and we are looking forward to continuing to serve our community as we begin making our transition towards hiring our next CEO/President for HACC.”

During her tenure, Evans reestablished the chamber ambassador program, grew membership by 30% and the Chamber budget by 158%, established a 501c3 that is currently raising funds to purchase a historic building to renovate for new Chamber home and more.

Evans said she resigned to focus more on her family.

“My service at the Chamber has always been driven by my commitment to my husband David and our five children.  I wanted to use my leadership to support the success of where we live.  With the news that my oldest daughter is expecting twins, I found myself at a crossroad,” Evans said. The Chamber and the Hartselle community deserve a leader that can give 100%.  It is essential to me that I can be present for this next season of grandparenting.  It is exciting to consider what the new leader of the Chamber will be able to do with fresh perspectives and undivided energy.”

The chamber’s 42nd annual Depot Days festival returns Sept. 16 and Jones added the chamber still plans on hosting a successful event for the community and attendees.
