Hartselle students place first, third in River Clay art contest

Sept. 29, The annual River Clay Fine Arts Festival. 67 artists from 10 states displayed works created with stones, paint, salvaged materials and more. Participants included a mixed media artist who makes brooms, a leather worker who makes handbags, notebook covers and spur straps, a metal worker who makes corkscrews, knives and fire poker stands, and a ceramicist who makes planters, vases and wall tiles.
Two Hartselle High School seniors received two out of the three awards in the high school division of the River Clay art competition.
Ethan Loyd earned first place in the division for his painting and Jo-Nelson Nelson came in third for her graphite portrait.
