As usual for this time of year, at your local library we have a calendar full of activities for the next few months. In addition to our regularly scheduled activities, which includes a weekly pre-k story time, homeschool hang out, book clubs and painting classes, we will also be adding some special activities for the holiday season.
Alex VanKoughnett will be teaching a Christmas paint pour class Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. This class is targeted for adults. If you have not tried the paint pour technique, I encourage you to sign up for this class. Paint pour is a great technique that guarantees that each person will get a unique design. I love doing these types of paintings.
I will be teaching a class on how to make a woven Swiss Advent Star Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. These are great to use as small presents during the holiday season. The stars look complicated, but they are easy to do when taken a step at a time. You do not have to be an experienced crafter to make these stars. This is a class for adults as it does entail multiple steps and some patience.
Sarah will be having a special pre-K grinch story time Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Our annual Polar Express Day will be held Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. In addition to reading the book and watching the movie, we will enjoy a special snack sponsored by our Friends of the Huie Library and have a special visit from Santa Claus.
Our programs are all free and open to the public. A library card is not required to participate. We do recommend calling (256) 773-9880 to sign-up if you are interested in craft classes, because space for those is limited However, sign-up is not required for other programs or story times. Monthly calendars are available at the library and on both the City of Hartselle Facebook page and the Friends of the Huie Library Facebook page. We hope to see you soon at the library – happy holidays!
