Hartselle volleyball’s season ends in second round of North Super Regional
Another season has ended for the Hartselle Lady Tigers’ volleyball team. Unfortunately, it ended sooner than planned at the 6A North Super Regional.
The Lady Tigers opened the tournament with a matchup with a ranked Buckhorn team. Hartselle had defeated the Lady Bucks in their only meeting this season.
The Lady Tigers dispatched the Lady Bucks in a 3-0 sweep that set them up for a Matchup with top-ranked Mountain Brook in the second round.
Amber Holshouser led the way with 25 assists, 16 digs and seven kills. Brooklyn Stiles added 32 digs. Katie Gillott had 10 kills and six digs, while Ashley Holshouser added nine kills and nine digs.
“I am more than proud of our kids. They came into that tournament prepared and determined,” Hartselle head coach Lindsey Crumpton said. “I thought they did an exceptional job executing our game plan against Buckhorn.”
Hartselle and the Lady Spartans met just a few weeks ago, with Mountain Brook coming out on top.
The Lady Spartans took control of the match early and defeated the Lady Tigers 3-0 to end Hartselle’s season.
Amber Holshouser finished with 16 assists and 16 digs. Stiles added 19 digs, while Ashley Holshouser had 12 digs and six kills.
“I hated that we came up short against Mountain Brook. That said, I have never been more proud of how our girls fought,” said Crumpton. “They never gave up against Mtn. Brook. We knew that Mtn. Brook would be the biggest obstacle we would face once we won the area, and they took the challenge head-on.”
Hartselle will lose seniors Ashley and Amber Holshouser and Brooklyn Stiles to graduation.
“I hate that we will lose the Holshouser twins next year and Brooklyn Stiles,” said Crumpton. “All three players have been pillars in our program this year. They each played six rotations, and we put a lot on those kids.”
