Bulldogs earn first victories of season
The Priceville Boys’ basketball team recently picked up two victories after starting the season 0-6. They defeated Madison County last Tuesday and Brewer last Friday to get in the win column. Their only blemish for the week was a loss to visiting Danville.
Priceville 68, Madison County 46
The Bulldogs used a strong second and third quarters to pull away from visiting Madison County for a 68-46 win. They outscored the Tigers 23-11 in the second after trailing 14-13 following the first quarter. They continued to pull away with a 20-9 run in the third quarter to lead 56-34 heading into the final quarter.
Sammy Holmes led Priceville with 29 points and seven rebounds. Carter Barnett added 16 points, while Colman Gann had 11 points and six rebounds.Luke Hood finished with six points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Priceville 57, Brewer 48
The Bulldogs picked up a 57-48 win over county rival Brewer in their only regular season matchup. Priceville led 11-9 after the first quarter before Brewer came back to tie the game 24-24 at the half. The Bulldogs led 42-39 after three quarters before outscoring the Patriots 15-9 in the fourth to get the win.
Holmes led Priceville with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists. Hood added 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Gann had seven points while Barnett had six.
Jackson Dunn had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Brewer. Austyn Holmes added 13 points, while Cason Oden had eight points and 10 rebounds.
