The child was in critical condition as he was transported from the scene of the attack on Ramblewood Private Drive off of Vaughn Bridge Road in Hartselle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to scanner reports, the child’s father was also injured by the dog.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies killed the dog, an Olde English Bulldog, at the scene.
