CEO, The Something Blue Shoppe 

Born and raised in Falkville, TJ Holmes spent his formative years amidst the warmth of Southern Hospitality and close-knit communities of Morgan County. “My great-grandmother’s lifelong association with downtown Hartselle left an indelible mark on my heart, and my visits to her workplace became a treasured tradition,” he said. “Falkville and Hartselle are so intertwined in my life that, when asked how long I’ve lived here, I often reply, “All my life.” After graduating from high school, I briefly ventured to Birmingham, where I resided for nearly 18 years, seeking new horizons.”   

His journey in the world of retail commenced at 15-years-old when he landed his first job at Joe Roberts in downtown Hartselle. This humble beginning, Holmes said, sowed the seeds of his passion for the industry. “It was at Joe Roberts that I honed my skills and work ethic, remaining there until I embarked on my adventure to Birmingham at the age of 18. Birmingham beckoned with dreams of becoming a mortician, but fate had other plans,” he said.  

“While pursuing my aspirations, I found myself in the realm of retail, working at Parisians. Instantly, I fell head over heels for the captivating world of fashion and customer service. My journey continued through the transition when Parisians merged with Belk, remaining there until 2010. 

“It was a pivotal moment in my life when I received a call from Sarah Morris, the owner of The Something Blue Shoppe who asked me to come work with her. I accepted without hesitation and my professional life came full circle. Notably, The Something Blue Shoppe later acquired the Joe Roberts buildings, expanding its footprint and bringing me back to the very place where I embarked on my retail career.
