Hartselle Kiwanis Club continues scholarly legacy with annual golf tournament
By Staff Reports
In a tradition spanning more than two decades, the Hartselle Kiwanis Club has been a beacon of support for local students, having awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships since 2010. The club’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and community engagement remains steadfast as it prepares for its upcoming golf tournament fundraiser.
Scheduled for June 14 at Point Mallard Golf Course, the tournament promises a day of camaraderie and philanthropy, according to club president Marianthe Snyder. Participants will not only enjoy a thrilling round of golf but will also contribute to the Hartselle Kiwanis Education & Scholarship Fund, ensuring the continuation of its noble mission.
“Hartselle Kiwanis Club is committed to the children of Morgan County and beyond,” Snyder said. “We are blessed as a club to have the opportunity to be part of our community and invest in our future through our youth.”
Snyder said Kiwanis forms a committee to review submissions from candidates, which are submitted through high school counselors. The committee assesses students based on their commendable grades, engagement in community service, and demonstrated initiative to excel as individuals, along with their commitment to enriching their community through volunteering.
The tournament, a cornerstone of the club’s fundraising efforts, aims to raise funds exclusively dedicated to educational endeavors. All proceeds will directly benefit college-bound seniors through scholarships and provide support to local schools catering to underprivileged students.
The event is sponsored by DiamondPro and Cullman Regional. Sponsorships are still available and range from corporate packages to hole sponsorships, offering various levels of involvement.
To ensure a spot in the tournament, interested parties must submit their entry forms and payments by June 3. The event promises an exciting lineup, including a four-person scramble style tournament, with a limit of 24 teams. Additional attractions include closest-to-the-pin holes, longest drive challenges, putting contests and door prizes. Lunch will also be provided.
